Tampa Bay Softball Weekly Awards & Notable Performers - Week 3, 2024

Bartow P Katelynn Oxley.

We're ready to officially release our third set of weekly awards for the 2024 season!

If you're new to Bay Made Fastpitch (a lot of parents have come up to us to introduce themselves recently!), here's how we do things here.

We split our awards into 4 different sections. Player of the Week, Pitcher of the Week and a Pitching / Offensive Honor Roll. We're also bringing back our Notable Performances section, where we get an opportunity to highlight a large number of players across our coverage area who might have missed out on the bigger awards.

As we like to say with these, 'no polls, no BS.'

Player of the Week:

Shayla Narcisse, Sr. CF, Bartow – On the way to taking home the Home of Champions Tournament crown, the senior’s bat was the hottest in the area. She was one of two players with a trio of three-hit games, but what set Narcisse apart was her ability to come up in clutch moments. She drove in three in the Lady Jackets’ wins over George Jenkins and Auburndale, totaling eight RBI for the week. She scored three times, swiped a couple of bases, and continued a strong start to what’s looking like a career season at the dish.

Pitcher of the Week:

Katelynn Oxley, Sr., Bartow – It’s a Yellow Jacket sweep of the top two awards after Oxley pitched 14 frames and was darn near perfect in Bartow’s 5-0 week. The Florida signee won all three of her decisions and struck out 34. She allowed just two baserunners the entire week and finished the week just one strikeout shy of 1,000 for her illustrious high school career. Oxley was a force at the plate as she’s proven to be, slashing an even .500 at 7-for-14 with five RBI, three doubles and six runs scored.

Offensive Honor Roll:

Keira Davis, So. OF, Lake Wales – In about a 24-hour timespan, the sophomore posted three three-hit games in the Highlanders’ final three games at Home of Champions. Davis finished 10-for-17 with two doubles and a triple. She crossed home six times and stole four bases.

Addison Swink, Sr. UTIL, Plant – The Belmont signee has caught fire as of late and was one of the toughest outs in the area last week. She failed to reach one time (on a sacrifice fly), finishing 6-for-6 with five RBI, four runs scored and a home run.

Alex Call, Sr. SS, Parrish Community – Softballs were punished more than a few times at the Bulls’ games this week and call sent a pair of them over the fence in a big win over Lakewood Ranch. The Virginia signee finished 5-for-9 and scored eight times in three games for the defending 5A State Champions.

Danika Best, Sr. OF, Inspiration Academy – Spearheaded by big games against Lakewood Ranch and Academy at the Lakes, Best was a big part of another successful week for Inspiration Academy. The Iowa State signee finished 8-for-17 with four extra base hits, four runs scored and five driven in.

Kennedy Shea, Jr. SS, Strawberry Crest – The Chargers needed a spark at the plate and the Georgia Southern commit provided just that. Shea went 6-for-7 with six extra base hits (four doubles and two triples) with six RBI and six runs scored to help Strawberry Crest earn its first two wins of the year.

Pitching Honor Roll:

Makenna Meadows, Jr., Lake Region – Her 44 strikeouts in 24.1 innings led the area as the Thunder reached the Home of Champions final before falling to Bartow. Meadows worked an impressive 0.87 ERA against good competition, allowing just three earned runs and three walks in five appearances.

Belle Mancillas, Sr., Frostproof – In three appearances, Mancillas helped the Bulldogs finish 2-1. She struck out 10 in 4.1 against Moore Haven, then worked around four unearned run to toss a complete game five-hitter against rival Fort Meade. In all, the senior struck out 16 and gave up only six total hits.

Elle Hildreth, Jr., Inspiration Academy – A run here and a run there might’ve kept the Lions undefeated, but the junior was stellar again in the circle at the Home of Champions. Her extra inning effort against Montverde Academy was impressive – Hildreth finished with a 1.21 ERA in 17.1 IP with 14 strikeouts.

Sienna Bailey, So., Admiral Farragut – The Blue Jackets are off to their best start in ten years and they have Bailey to thank for a lot of that. She struck out 17 in complete game efforts against Canterbury and Boca Ciega and helped her side at the plate with a 4-for-7 week, scoring four times in two games.

Ryleigh Knowlton, So., Bartow – Yup, the Lady Jackets have another quality arm. Knowlton definitely deserves some shine after a week where she worked a 22:2 K:BB ratio in 11 innings. She allowed just one earned run to Plant City in pool play at Home of Champions and won both of her decisions to help Bartow stay unbeaten as one of the nation’s best teams.
